about me and planes

About Me
Born in July 1961 and single I live in Tonbridge,Kent in the UK.During my teenage years I was a member of The Air Training Corps and had every intention of joining the RAF.Sadly it was not to be,I failed my medical.Since leaving school and up to this present day I have worked in the plastics industry .I find myself with little in the way of free time but when ever the opportunity arises I generally make the most of it and indulge in one of my greatest passions,I love taking pictures of aircraft in all their different guises.
My interest in photography started shortly after leaving school.For many years I shot 35mm film and then made the move to medium format.It is only recently I have gone totally digital using high end Canon equiptment.At present I use a pair of Canon digital SLR bodies keeping one as a back up in case the other becomes troublesome and have invested heavily in Canon's L range of lenses for their superior optics and build quality.All of my images are processed via Adobe Photoshop using the Macintosh platform on account of its user friendly interface and the number one position it holds in the graphics industry.

About Aviation Photography
Nothing fascinates me more than to be standing on the viewing gallery at any one of a number of airports and seeing those huge birds leave the ground and head skywards defeating gravity and heading off into the distance for foreign lands.I'm not what might be termed an aircraft spotter as I don't collect registrations or listen into ATC but since my early years I have always been interested in aviation and coupled with my love of taking pictures it seems only natural that I should like capturing images of planes.

Living in Kent and not a million miles from the main London airports my weekends are generally spent at either Gatwick or Heathrow.
